Guaranteed levels of service for transit users

In order to minimise the effects of the construction site on traffic in the presence of high volumes of traffic, a dynamic management of signalling has been planned for the spring-summer period, when the motorway is most used by travellers, thanks to which two lanes will always be available for the prevailing traffic direction according to this general configuration:

• From Friday to Sunday morning, two lanes will be available in the direction of La Spezia (scenario likely to represent the prevailing traffic flow) and one lane in the direction of Parma.
• From Sunday afternoon to Monday morning, two lanes will be available in the direction of Parma (scenario likely to represent the prevailing traffic flow) and one lane in the direction of La Spezia.

This setting is subject to change based on real-time traffic data, particularly on weekends when there is heavy traffic in both directions.

Additional management measures implemented by the Concessionaire during the construction period

• Activation of escape routes capable of diverting motorway traffic onto roads at least on a provincial scale in the event of a prolonged traffic jam.
• Provision of emergency tracks within the construction site area to permanently guarantee the transit of emergency vehicles.
• Resurfacing of motorway by-passes to facilitate carriageway exchange manoeuvres.
• Positioning of a rescue wagon at a strategic point to remove any broken-down vehicles as quickly as possible.
• Deployment, during the winter period, of an adequate number of buckets of chemical de-icer along the section and of sacks near the Gravagna site.
• Deployment of a blade train and a chloride spreader in addition to the normal winter management procedure.
• Making agreements with the traffic police departments of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna as well, within the framework of the national snow plans and the summer evacuation plans.
