Entry to the highway can take place from any of the toll stations on the interconnected network, thus making it possible to cross contiguous stretches of highway managed by different companies, with a single payment at destination.
The ordinary ticket contains on a magnetic strip the data concerning the station of entry, the day, the time and the class of entry. This data is required for the proper execution of the toll payment transaction at the exit station.
To this end, the customer is required to adopt some minimum precautions to avoid loss or deterioration of the ticket during the journey, placing it in a place within reach, without folding it and without exposing it to heat or magnetic sources.
In the event of loss or failure to collect, a Failure to Pay Report is issued at the exit station for the route corresponding to the farthest interconnected station, as provided for in Art. 176, paragraph 16 of the current highway Code.
The user, however, is given the option of proving the entry station.
ORDINARY TRAVEL TICKET
This is the toll ticket to be collected upon entering the highway if you do not have a Telepass machine. Ticket picture is illustrative, graphic appearance may be subject to change.
SELF-SERVICE TRANSIT CERTIFICATE
This “TRANSIT CERTIFICATE” is issued at the exit of the toll booths and automated teller machines either as a payment receipt or as a non-payment report. (Payment method “R”)
PLEASE NOTE
The letter “R” shown on the front under the heading PAYMENT METHOD indicates that the toll has not been paid for due to:
– Card payment failure or card not enabled
– VIAcard with insufficient credit
– Card not read by tolling machine
– Lack of money or insufficient money (automatic cash machines)
The toll must be paid within 15 days from the issuance of the transit certificate at any:
– Salt point or Salt tollbooth.
– Post Office, with payment of the amount on the postal account n. 230557 – made out to Salt p.a., indicating the reason of the bulletin, the VEHICLE PLATE and the MISSED PAYMENT NUMBER on the front.
– By Visa, MasterCard, Diners and American Express credit cards directly from our website.
If payment is made after the deadline indicated, the amount of the toll must be increased by € 2.58 for collection expenses. Failure to pay the amount due will result in the forced recovery of the credit with the addition of higher expenses.
Law 196/2003
In the event of non-payment of the toll, the vehicle’s license plate is automatically recorded for subsequent recovery from the owner. The processing of the data and the recovery of the toll is also carried out using third parties specifically appointed for this purpose. The interested party may exercise their rights under Art. 7 Legislative Decree 196/2003.

MANNED TOLLGATE TICKET
This represents receipt of payment at manned tollgate exits. The receipt is issued by the collector upon request.
Toll receipts issued at a manned tollgate do not constitute valid documentation for tax purposes. Invoicing of tolls paid in cash or by cards must be requested at the Company’s head office or at the SALT Points, by filling in a specific form accompanied by the original of said toll receipts. Pre-magnetized travel ticket delivered at the entrance in the event of malfunction of the automatic machine.
NON-PAYMENT OF TOLL REPORT
Issued at a booth managed by the collector;
Payment procedure and warning
Payment of the amount due must be paid within the next 15 days at
– SALT office or any manned tollgate operated by SALT personnel
– Post office by postal giro account n. 230557 Autostrada SALT p.a. – specifying your car registration number and the number of the unpaid toll.
– SALT website www.salt.it, using VISA, MasterCard, Diners and American Express credit cards.
If payment is made after 15 days, an additional sum of € 2.58 shall be due. Failure to make payment will result in the recovery of the sum outstanding and legal costs
Both the driver and owner of the vehicle are responsible for the toll payment (art. 373, paragraph 1 of the Highway Code)
The highway ticket is the only valid proof of the distance covered and therefore the amount due
Should a driver go to a tollgate exit without a ticket because he/she has either lost it or did not take it at the tollgate access, the toll collector has to calculate the amount from the farthest tollgate (art. 176, par. 16 of the highway code)
unless the driver can prove with suitable documentary evidence the actual tollgate access. Consequently, this evidence will have to be sent within 15 days of the date of transit to S.A.L.T. p.a. – Servizio Pedaggi – Via Don E. Tazzoli, 9 – 55041 Lido di Camaiore – (LU).
A similar measure must also be taken for reversing on the highway, which is specifically forbidden in art. 176, par. 1-a of the highway code
Law 196/2003 on the protection of persons and other subjects regarding the processing of personal data:
The personal data entered in this form are also processed with the aid of computer systems, in order to document the non-payment of tolls by the customer occurred at a manned tollgate for one of the causes provided in the form.
The form allows the customer to make the payment at a later date and this Company, in case of non-fulfillment, the recovery of the amount due. The processing of data for the toll recovery will also be carried out with the help of third parties specifically appointed. In relation to this processing, the interested party may exercise their rights under Art. 7 Legislative Decree 196/2003.
Should the customer refuse to provide personal data, the vehicle’s license plate will be recorded and the toll will be recovered from the owner of the vehicle (art. 373 DPR 495 of 16/12/1992).
